Kuttampuzha Grama Panchayat

Kuttampuzha is a beautiful hill village located in the eastern part of Ernakulam district of Kerala, in the lap of the Western Ghats. Kuttampuzha Grama Panchayat, which falls under Kothamangalam taluk, is the largest in the district in terms of area. Surrounded by dense forests and tributaries of the Periyar, this area was formerly under the rule of the Travancore princely state. This area, which was formed for the collection and conservation of forest resources, later evolved into a residential area in its present form with the arrival of immigrants. Kuttampuzha was officially formed as a separate Grama Panchayat in 1983. This panchayat, which has a large number of Scheduled Tribes, includes 17 wards and more than 15 Scheduled Tribe villages.
