Inchathotty Suspension Bridge
The Inchathotty Suspension Bridge, located near Kothamangalam in the Ernakulam district, is one of the longest suspension bridges in Kerala. Attracting tourists with its natural beauty and architectural excellence, detailed information about this bridge is provided below.

1. Geographical Location
Location: The bridge is situated in a village called Inchathotty, located in the Kuttampuzha Grama Panchayat of Kothamangalam Taluk, Ernakulam district.
River: This suspension bridge is built across the Periyar River. On one side of the Periyar lies Inchathotty, and on the other side is the Keerampara Grama Panchayat.
2. Features and Construction
Length: With a length of over approximately 183 meters, this bridge is considered one of the largest suspension bridges in Kerala.
Width: The bridge is about 1.2 meters wide and is intended for pedestrian traffic only.
Purpose: It was constructed by the Kuttampuzha Grama Panchayat to provide easy access to Kothamangalam town and other major locations for people living on both banks of the Periyar, especially the residents of Inchathotty.
3. Tourism Importance
Natural Beauty: Walking across this bridge, which spans over lush green forest areas and the calmly flowing Periyar River, offers a beautiful experience for travelers.
Proximity to Thattekad: Inchathotty is located very close to the famous Thattekad Bird Sanctuary (Dr. Salim Ali Bird Sanctuary). Therefore, it is a major spot chosen by those who visit Thattekad.
Kayaking: Facilities for adventure water sports like kayaking and boating are now available in the Periyar River near the bridge.
