History of Grama Panchayat
The history of Kuttampuzha Grama Panchayat, one of the largest hill villages in Ernakulam district of Kerala, is closely linked to the dense forest areas and primitive culture here. This area, spread on the banks of Periyar and Pooyamkuttyar, has been the center of a unique tribal culture since ancient times. The original indigenous inhabitants of Kuttampuzha are tribal groups like Muthuvans and Mannans. Their lifestyle and customs, which regarded the forest as a god, collected and re-cultivated forest resources and lived without much contact with the outside world, formed the historical foundation of this land.
